Artist Statement

Susan Windham

My artwork is a reflection of my journey with God. Painting is one of the ways He speaks to me, revealing visions, moments of worship, and His presence. Each piece carries a message—sometimes about peace, sometimes about war, always about Him. I don’t always know where the painting is going to lead me at first, but through the process, He gives revelation in His time.

A recurring theme in my work is the Bride of Christ—her strength, her battles, her position in faith. Some paintings speak of redemption and breaking chains, while others reflect resistance and standing firm against darkness. The meaning unfolds as I listen, as I paint, as I trust.

I believe my work holds something for everyone—those walking in faith, those searching, those in need of hope. My role is not to decide who it’s for, but to be obedient in creating it. Just as He has spoken to me through art, I pray others will encounter Him in their own way when they experience my work.

Each painting is an invitation - to taste and see the goodness of God. Some may feel His power, some His presence, some His peace, some His love. What is seen depends on the heart of the beholder and what He wants to reveal to them.

Jeremiah 29:11 reminds me that He has a plan, even when I don't see it. Looking back, I see how He used art to lead me, even in seasons of brokenness. What once felt like aimless creation now feel like a calling. My artwork is not just an expression - it is a ministry. A way to share, to empower, and to remiind others that they are seen, loved, and never without purpose.
